Mason Mount says he’s excited about the chance of creating his own England bow alongside greatest buddy Declan Rice.
The group have been included in Gareth Southgate’s squad to the European Qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo in which Mount, that joined up at October last year could acquire his first international cap.
Rice and mount played together in the Chelsea youth ranks if he was just 14, prior to the latter was published by the Blues. But he joined West Ham and has since gone on for a routine for club and country.
Into the side in which he expects to find the opportunity to again play his friend, Mount has made a second call-up Adhering to a remarkable start to his Premier League profession beneath Frank Lampard in Chelsea.
“That’s something we have talked about for a long, long moment,” Mount said. “Becoming really, very close buddies with him that’s something we’ve always looked forward to maybe going on later on. Speaking with him, that’s quite exciting.
“We’re very, very near and have known each other for a very long moment. We’ve always spoken of playing with each other about that opportunity.
“Playing with one another at Chelsea at that young age, it had been something special between us so we’ve always kept that expectation of it happening .”
Mount admits he had been frustrated to see Rice depart Chelsea because they had been coming through the rankings but hasn’t been amazed at his rise in both Premier League and on the stage, which saw him make his England debut.
“Yeah of course [I had been sad to see go]. He was one of my closest friends. But as I mentioned before – that’s football and it happens,” he explained.
“He’s bounced back and look what he’s doing today. It is a credit to him and his mindset that is what he is like as a boyhe does not let anything get him down, he focused on achieving big things”
Mount said being involved Southgate’s squad to their Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain last October gave him that the”thirst” to earn yet another call-up to the senior side and disclosed it will be an emotional event for his family if selected.
“You always dream about this call-up – that begin for England as a kid, so I have always dreamt of that,” he said. “I am looking forward to these next two games, therefore working hard in training to make that occur.
“Being in the group last year, obtaining a taste of being round the place and being with the first team gave me that additional desire to go and wish to participate with the squad , so it is a massive moment for me and I’m excited about these next two games.
“I believe being at Chelsea, it is that different degree. But coming here last season, being concerned about the squad, studying how they operate, I’ve been throughout the ages in England but when you get called up to the seniors it has a different level. So being here last year, working together, knowing how they would like to play and work has obviously helped me coming back last season.”
He added:”It’s such a joyful moment, it is exactly what you dream about for a very, very long time. You can’t really have the words to describe that sense of stepping outside making your debut.
“It’s such a gigantic moment for the loved ones, for all of the coaches that have worked together previously. So it is people I have worked with before and not a moment for me but a massive moment for the folks around me.
“It is going to be quite a proud moment for me and there will likely be a few tears when I do get to make my introduction. [My family] are a huge part of my livelihood so hopefully I can create my introduction and they’ll be veryhappy.”
