Australia finished their Rugby World Cup Pool D schedule on Friday, grinding the win in rain-sodden conditions in Shizuoka.
Nic White notched the sole first-half attempt beyond a powerful Georgia defensive campaign for the Wallabies, with out-half Matt Toomua including the only points of this period with a penalty.
Marika Koroibete saw a stunning effort about the hour to provide Australia breathing distance, as Alexander Todua sprinted up the left wing following a Lasha Khmaladze break but Georgia responded into the final 10 minutes.
Australia back-row Jack Dempsey rubber-stamped the success with five minutes remaining when he scored the back of a drive off when he dived over in the last minute and certainly will Genia additional undue gloss to the scoreline.
Australia will now in most likelihood face England at the quarter-finals in Oita on Saturday, October 19 – with England with come off the rear of a 14-day rest with France.
