After she returned lame from her conduct from the Matron Stakes john Oxx has called time on the racing career of Group One-winning filly Skitter Scatter.
Scat Daddy’s daughter won four of the seven starts as a final season – ending her effort 12 months ago.
With trainer Patrick Prendergast retiring during the off-season to combine forces with Oxx, after suffering a muscle injury Skitter Scatter left her first start to get her coach at the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in May, nevertheless frustrated.
She left an encouraging return by a close four-month lack she’ll now be retired to the paddocks and when runner-up from the Group Three Fairy Bridge Stakes at Tipperary in the end of last month, however trailed home last of seven rebounds in the Matron.
“Skitter Scatter was retired and will go back into Airlie Stud,” Oxx said.
“She was not moving great in the ending (of the race) and was so helpless afterwards. She ran at Tipperary and came out of it alright. She was beautiful since then and her actions was very nice, but the racecourse is the best test.
“She has won a Group One, Group 2 plus a Group Three. She’s a pedigree.
“Her career might have been a lot better. The skill and excitement was still there, but unfortunately injury has brought her racing career to an end.”
