The Pittsburgh Steelers would love to be done answering questions. Ben Roethlisberger, rather, hopes to focus on what the players still in the construction bring to the table.
At his youth football camp over the weekend, Big Ben said he is excited for the team that currently wears the black and yellow.
“I am excited, I really am excited in what we have,” Roethlisberger told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. “We put a lot of work in, that is what it’s going to occur, it’s going to take a team effort. See where it belongs and we are going to give all we have. We can’t predict the future, but we can predict we’re going to give what we have.”

Gone would be Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, but it is not like Big Ben is now playing with scrap meat. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a legit No. 1 receiver. James Conner proved to be a workhorse runner when wholesome. Vance McDonald is a bulldozing tight end and also reliable target. Free-agent receiver Donte Moncrief has obtained offseason praise within the building and may eventually assemble consistency to proceed with physical talent. Ryan Switzer is a slot who seems to have gained Big Ben’s trust. And it would shock no one if among the Steelers’ additional draft picks at receiver morphs to a playmaker, whether that’s second-year WR James Washington or rookie Diontae Johnson.
Sure, replacing Brown and Bell is simpler said than done, but provided that a Hall of Famer like Roethlisberger is under center, the Steelers’ offense ought to be fine, even if it’s not as volatile. In the event the defense eventually starts to grab, Pittsburgh will remain in the playoff hunt.
Besides expecting new, younger gamers, Big Ben is reveling in the dramatic nature of this 2019 Steelers.
“It has been a little crazy the last few decades, maybe more than usual that we are utilized to dealing with,” Roethlisberger said. “To kind of return to quote unquote normalcy is sort of nice.”
Whether that normalcy turns into a winner with different faces is going to be the question surrounding Pittsburgh before the season starts.
