Week 5 NFL Betting Primer

We had a person or something whichs played our feelings.
For some, it began young when dad pulled the oldIm going to the store to get a pack of smokes trick. For many others, its if your prom date pulls the oldI am going into the bathroom trick you then do not see her until a few hours later when she is strangely slow dance with your father who you have not seen since he left that pack of smokes.
Here is a pretty specific example that Im sure just a few people can relate to, but one thing we could all relate to as bettors is getting our emotions played with each and every week.
Lets utilize the Buccaneers and Saints who play this weekend as our heads and perhaps the examples of groups that toy with our hearts.
The Bucs came to the season expectations as a group that could possibly be in-line for an advancement, but not much has been expected. When they were embarrassed at dropping 31-17 as a 1-point favored versus the 49ers, they fell short of these little expectations at Week 1. As a result, many of us wrote off them as they seemed a lot like the tragedy theyve been the past couple of seasons.
Next, after throwing us all off the scent, they come from Week 2 and triumph outright as a 6.5-point underdog in Carolina with all the shield and Jameis Winston every with the best performances of the last few seasons.
We found ourselves imagining the possibility that theres some sleeper potential with Tampa Bay. NOPE. They follow the big win up with dropping as a favorite and blowing off an 18-point lead.
So, we got them pegged? WRONG! In what will go down as one of the upsets of the year — one which possibly ousted you from the survivor pool — that they ruin the Rams as a 9-point underdog by 15 and fly across the nation. Theyre lying if a person asserts that they predicted this beginning to the Bucs.
The Saints and our feelings have played in a much different way the last couple of seasons as they have a blueprint of starting slow, and then putting their foot. After edging out the Texans they even got their butts kicked to start the year 0-2 ATS, which made them look as a candidate for regression. NOPE. They won the next two games because of an underdog.
This is how their previous four seasons have now gone
2018: They did not pay in Weeks 1 and??2 they coated in eight straight games.
2017: They did not pay in the initial two weeks, they then covered six of the seven that are subsequent.
2016: They divide the initial two, then coated five of the next six.
2015: They go 0-2 ATS in Weeks 1 and 2 pay in four of the five.
What Im getting at with these two examples is that this is a volatile league from week-to-week and notably in season-to-season. But, you shouldnt allow the swings we see your mindset is impacted by every week. Emotion should not be involved in your handicapping strategy — thats why bettors prevent betting on or from their favourite team.
This is significantly easier said than done, however always try to decide whether a surprise functionality is an outlier based on the groups body of work leading to the match, or whether it is a realistic indication of things to come.
Apart from the Bucs and Saints, emotions are still running high for reasons in another matchup this week between the Vikings and Giants. Many will probably be keen to disappear Kirk Cousins along with the Vikings after becoming ashamed vs the Bears, entirely denying that they also got humiliated versus the Packers in Week two, only to flip things around the following week and destroy the Raiders. ??
There example during a season, so be sure to disability based on a larger sample size, compared to how youre feeling about a participant or group based on one match. As for your dad left you shameful you in your prom night no one will judge you in the event you get swayed by emotions, but keep in mind that its not healthy to hold a grudge.
As youre probably aware if you follow me on Twitter or watch men & bets, myself and a few other members of the Odds Shark team are headed to Jolly Old England to perform a few shows, check out Bears versus Raiders, take in couple of soccer matches and go through the British civilization. It all will be recorded so be sure youre subscribed on YoutTube and after along on Instagram.
Anyways, getting there is a pain in the ass. After a layover, it is a overnight haul which gets us at a 9 am local time. I wish to hit the ground running on arrival with as much electricity as possible, so sleep would soon probably be imperative on the way there.
That is not a problem for me personally, although hate and/or can not sleep on airplanes. It is not an automatic thing though as theres a few simple steps that I placed into position.
Here the are:
Before the plane takes off, take yoursleep-aid. Pop in these ear plugs, put on your jacket and colors and pull that hoodie. Once youre at the air the nausea should begin to kick-in along with the ear plugin, hat, hoodie and shades combo will put you in your own little world which you are going to hopefully be comfy enough to doze off in.
That is the simple part, so ideally , you wont need to deal with any flaws, a seat right across from any slob who is dominating the armrest in the chair beside you or the bathroom. Provide my sleep system a try and always KEEP CHASING THAT PAPER!
As you may imagine, as a sports betting content creator, employed is a complete dream job, but like in every other type of occupation, theres definitely a few pet peeves.
One of the most bothersome things I encounter on a daily basis is Saved from know-it-all bettors on social media who enjoy throwing around the termsquare to discredit a bettor or a specific pick. Those exact people frequently love to lecture people onpublic money arriving on one side of a wager or another.
The topic came up with this weeks Guys & Bets podcast??(which you need to be listening to every week) and I found myself quite fired up after being known as a square for choosing the Patriots to pay the spread versus the Bills this week.
Yes, there are loads of square bettors and a good deal of square betting options each day, however, the rest of the square narrative has grown an overly handy thing for individuals to slim down and if youre overly reliant on itcould be costing you money.
If you are new to gambling, I implore you not to fall in the trap of placing all of your eggs into a basket with trying to fadesquare bets — aka stakes supporting teams with a large public after.
Every weekI see hundreds of folks coming up with reasons to disappear the Patriots as well as reports of gaudy actions against them, and that I dont know it. Over the previous five seasons, the New England Patriots, who have a huge following, would be the No. 2 ATS bet in the NFL,??covering in a rate of 63.6 percent. If you are winning spread bets in that rate over five decades youd be an incredible success.
What about the Patriots equivalent in college soccer? Well, they are not in New Englands flat, but theyve been a profitable spread bet in three of the previous four seasons, hitting at 54.8 percent??within this period.
How about Duke basketball this season when the Blue Devils??would be the greatest attraction in school basketball in years due to Zion Williamson? All they did was move a rewarding 15-10 ATS at the season before the sneaker of Zion exploded versus North Carolina.
Think about the New York Yankees, whose chances are so large in most games this season which you need to take these on the runline to see a small return on your wager? All theyve done is become MLBs most profitable runline wager, posting a profit of +19.8 units at September 26.
It doesnt get morepeople than??those teams, and therefore dont listen to thepublic money andsquare crap on social media. In the end, bets come down to individual matchups as well as the betting operation ofpeople teams fluctuates across seasons and sports.
Tune out the sound and remove those types of narratives out of your handicapping strategy. Track if its at a spot where you like it and youve got the stats to back up this, fire away and line movement. Sports gambling is all about winning more money, and if makingsquare bets can get me , then I will happily be the sharpest square about.
Speaking of bets which arent believed sharp, so my Greasy Moneyline Parlays are off to a wonderful beginning at 4-0 this season, which brings the entire life record to 10-3 to get +8.91 units. Heres an example from a Couple of Weeks back if youre not familiar with my weekly GMPs:
Basically were parlaying favorites — usually five to six — having a goal to get to EVEN a tiny bit or cash better. Although it might look like I am only blindly pairing the biggest favorites I could discover, there are??in fact rules to creating a GMP and I do??urge each game to determine the probability of an upset.
The rules are simple and are as follows:
Do not bend or break these rules. I often get messages with individuals adding in matches. This reduces your chances of winning. In addition, I receive messages with people sending me their version of some GMP and its filled with teams under the -300 threshold — thats not a Greasy Moneyline Parlay, its only a parlay.
Up until this point, a school football game has never dropped to a Greasy Moneyline Parlay. Even the Packers losing a home game blew one up, the Bucks losing to the Suns killed one and our hearts broke in a school baseball game versus UMass.??
Be on the watch for every Friday during football season in my Twitter feed and a GMP each, also another reminder??to become not greedy and also to KEEP CHASING THAT PAPER!
Here is trends and the top stats for every single 4 NFL game:
