Aldo Costa, among the leading characters behind Mercedes’ victory, will depart the team, it’s been announced.
Costa, who had been engineering manager moving to some technical function this season, will leave the entire world champions to join maker Dallara.
“Since stepping back from my function as technology director, I have enjoyed supporting the team in this season and have also been searching for my next challenge beyond Formula 1,” he said.
“After several years working at the pinnacle of our sport, I’m eager to have the ability to donate some of what I have discovered to some other racing series and to high-performance automotive jobs outside rushing.
“Among my personal passions is to mentor and develop young talent, and it’s going to be a focus for me personally to help attract and develop the next generations of Italian engineering ability at Dallara in years ahead.”
Costa became technical manager of the team before departing for Ferrari seven years after and joined minnows Minardi in 1988.
He has been among the architects behind the dominatio, in addition to being designer during the Raikkonen 2007 title victory of Kimi, also spent 16 years in Italy.
The 58-year-old abandoned Ferrari from 2011 to combine Mercedes as technology director, also has included the following 10 world championships (five motorists’ along with five constructors’) for his honours, such as four names for Britain’s Lewis Hamilton.
