KLM Open: Sergio Garcia and Callum Shinkwin share 54-hole lead

Sergio Garcia and Callum Shinkwin go into the Last day of the KLM Open tied to the lead since Matt Wallace surged Daily three in Amsterdam into contention.

Garcia and Shinkwin both fired 66s to hit the front on 15 beneath, earning them a guide over Nicolai Hojgaard, while Wallace’s superb lifted him and leaves him off the pace after 54 holes.
Nevertheless, it was a day for leader Scott Jamieson, who tumbled down the leaderboard after an ambitious 76 which left him eight shots behind the top two.
Shinkwin had the better of playing-partner Garcia at the turn because the young Englishman’s four birdies in an outward 32 defeat the Spaniard but Shinkwin bogeyed the 11th later Garcia holed his birdie putt of the round.
The 26-year-old, that arrived at the Netherlands ranked 126th at the Race to Dubai and having a strong finish to the year to retain his card, responded with three birdies in four holes from the 14th, even though he was unable to add another at the par-five last.
However, his 66 shut out with back-to-back birdies and declared himself delighted with his all-round game, particularly his form around the greens.
“I’m really pleased,” stated the former Masters champion. “It helps when you are swinging nicely, but it is not easy. It’s not ever simple. We make it look like that but it was tricky, there were a couple of holes where the wind screwed me a tiny bit and hit two shots at 10 and nine and didn’t get anything from it.
“Obviously if you are striking the ball well and hit a lot of greens and you are rolling the ball nicely, even in case you don’t create them you feel good as you’re hitting good putts. I struck on many of those now, such as on 13 and a few others like 15 like which looked like they went to go in and just missed.
“I Had a lot. Not only me but I guess everyone knows how important putting is and if you are a good ball-striker, it always feels as if you are missing over the rest since you’ve got a great deal more birdie putts but they’re from a further distance so it is easier to overlook them. I realise that and stay patient and that is what I have been doing.”
Shinkwin added:”I had been matching Sergio shot for shot. You need to watch your playing partner regardless of that it is, and Sergio hit his straight and hit close, Just as everybody says don’t see your playing partner. I was doing well if he was matched by me.
“I have got to maintain my emotions inside. If I hit a bad shot, don’t let it affect me and just walk on and play with with the next one. I beat myself too much, especially not creating birdies early . I have to take it one shot at a time and expect that it feels in.”
Wallace had earlier made a huge movement when he birdied five of their first six holes after another at the ninth, his momentum stalled using a bogey at the 10th until he got back with three birdies in four holes in the 12th.
The Englishman closed with his 10th benefit of the round set the clubhouse target, and he’d finish the day in a tie for fifth – 53 places higher than Friday day – with fellow Englishmen Matthew Southgate (70) and Steven Brown (68) also on 11 under.
Another challenger, James Morrison, is one stroke closer into the guide later he returned.
