Sebastian Vettel’s problems mount after Italian GP penalty

Sebastian Vettel’s penalty for’reckless’ driving in the GP has left him only three points off from an F1 ban, even since the German was compelled to reflect on another damaging day in his disappointing season.
While youthful team-mate Charles Leclerc ended Ferrari’s nine-year wait to get a win in their home raceto activate jubilant celebrations for its team and Italian audiences in the packed grandstands, Vettel trailed home 13th after his race was ruined by a young twist and then a direct battle with Lance Stroll’s oncoming Racing Point.

Together with his return to the track deemed’dangerous’ by race stewards, Vettel was extended a 10-second stop-and-go penalty, the most severe sanction available prior to a disqualification.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1 following the race, a downcast Vettel stated:”Obviously I’m not happy with this, I can not be happy with my day.
“I lost the rear an couldn’t catch it, as straightforward as that. Then the race has been gone.”
Asked if he’d witnessed Stroll coming, Vettel replied:”No. I fought a few times to find the car moving, and to get in the right direction also, so that I couldn’t see him”
Compounding the sanction that is in-race would be the 3 penalty points inserted into the German’s superlicence.
Vettel is currently on nine for the past 12-month interval, three away from a automatic one-race suspension. The upcoming things to be dropped – 2, accrued at year’s US GP – don’t perish until October 19, meaning without collecting three points Vettel must navigate the 3 grands prix.
No driver has reached the 12-point limit within the stipulated period since the machine was introduced in 2014.
Vettel, who congratulated Leclerc and joined Ferrari celebration picture, has been overtaken as the group’s lead driver in the world championship. Leclerc is up together with Vettel, to fourth place on 182 points now 13 behind.
“Obviously I still love everything I do, however, surely if you’re not doing well that which you know you can do well, you can not be glad,” added the German driver.
The verdict by Sky F1’s Nico Rosberg
“It’s unexplainable for me personally. I can’t explain it.
“He is a four-time entire world champion, he’s one of the best men out there, and also to earn a mistake like that, within our own and turning a car like that in a corner, is indeed strange.
“Afterward even worse afterwards, coming back on the track like that – though I know because what are you going to do? Just sit there and simply wait for the train to go by? Push out and probably just opt to take a risk.
“But that, a dual mistake – my goodness. This must be quite so dark this instant for him. His team-mate has shot the number one status from him, probably, in the group also just became a complete Ferrari legend.
“Vettel is just one of those men with a great deal of self-confidence, therefore that is definitely going to help him much through this. And in F1 it is such short lived it only takes one race, one quite strong race and you are back. So we should not write off him because he could come back very quick, but not a simple one.”
