Laurens faces eight in Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket

If she wants to defend her crown in the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket, last year’s winner Laurens is put to confront eight competitions.
Karl Burke star maintained the fifth of her Group One victories so far in Saturday’s event when getting the better of the Aidan O’Brien-trained Thankfully by a mind.
She and her top-level tally at the Prix Rothschild in Deauville added together during the summer, since when she has been defeated at the Town of York Stakes before finishing fourth while defending her crown.
Laurens will revive competition with the first and second in Joseph O’Brien’s Iridessa and Aidan O’Brien’s dual 1000 Guineas heroine Hermosa, in the Matron.
O’Brien senior has announced Matron fifth I Can Fly.
Lavender’s Blue is a fascinating contender after an amazing Group Three success on her appearance in the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown in late August, for Amanda Perrett.
Following Alex Pantall supplemented Madeleine Must to join stablemate Crown Walk there are just two challengers out of France.
The field is done by Sir Michael Stoute’s Falmouth Stakes winner Veracious along with Richard Hannon’s 1000 Guineas heroine of last season – Billesdon Brook.
