South Africa coach Matt Proudfoot defends doping controls

South Africa assistant coach Matt Proudfoot has defended the team controls following Aphiwe Dyantyi drug test.
25, springboks and Lions wing Dyantyi, will face a prohibit after both his B and A urine samples returned results for multiple steroids, however, trainer Proudfoot defended the drugs testing schedule of his group.
He said:”We’re tested weekly, probably six to eight players are tested within an off-day every week until the camps we’ve been around, right the way through the Super Rugby tournament.
“I understand why the storyline is there, however, serious testing is done of this team, and that’s the group I am accountable for.
“Medicine testing has to be functioning, that is a world sport dilemma.”
Proudfoot said events on the field should judge South Africa’s rugby.
He added:”If you take a look at our Sevens team competing on the world stage, our side third in the Earth, that the Springboks competing nicely, the women’s team also.
“So that is the image of South African rugby which needs to be achieved.
“But obviously doping in sport is something which needs to be continually addressed.”
