Two championship conflicts have been booked for UFC 225 at Chicago on June 9, setting up one of the superior pay-per-view cards to the year.
At the main event, middleweight champion Robert Whittaker defends his strap at a rematch against Yoel Romero, who pumped out Luke Rockhold to earn the challenge. The first time they met, Whittaker outboxed the dangerous Romero for five rounds to claim the interim belt. The young Aussie was installed as the undisputed champ after GSP vacated the buckle.
As most of us know, Romero is among the most explosive athletes to grace the octagon, and any moment he’s on his feet is one where he could author a brutal finish. But Bobby Knuckles has come to be a stellar tactician, and his superb boxing is now an issue that contenders can’t solve.
From the co-main, Rafael dos Anjos will meet Colby Covington for the interim welterweight title. Covington has been creating lots of headlines, doing a bad impression of Chael Sonnen to trash talk his way to big fights. It is working, but he has quickly become the most despised fighter on roster. His current statements about Brazil should provide Rafael dos Anjos lots of motivation to shut up Covington.
Also on the card is bantamweight No. 1 competitor Joe Benavidez, two-time strawweight title challenger Claudia Gadelha, heavyweight title challenger Alistair Overeem, former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans. Just to top it all off, CM Punk will fight his hometown for his second ace MMA bout.

What to Watch For
Robert Whittaker will make his first title defense against the man he beat to win the title. While he is the big favorite coming in, counting out somebody as harmful as Romero is just plain dumb. Keep your eyes on Romero’s cost, as coming anyplace close to +200 will be an excellent opportunity.
