Mansfield 6-1 Oldham: Nicky Maynard scores hat-trick as Stags rout Latics

Nicky Maynard claimed a first-half hat-trick as clinical Mansfield destroyed nine-man Oldham 6-1 at Saturdays Sky Bet League Two clash.
Maynard had netted twice when Latics had two men sent off in a stunning 37th minute – and the screw turned.
Mansfields early dominance had been rewarded when Maynard headed.
He also made it this time tapping home from close range after Otis Khan had obtained to the by-line that was left and drilled the ball.
But after 37 minutes, Oldham lost their heads since the already-booked Filipe Morais went on Neal Bishop, whose pass reached Mal Benning, that was in turn . Morais was shown a second yellow card and Egert earned a straight red.
However, a mistake from goalkeeper Conrad Logan awakens at a cross gifted the nine men a target after 43 minutes.
Tom Hamer tucked the loose ball off to reduce the shortage but – moments afterwards – Maynard rounded the goalkeeper to finish his own hat-trick about the breath of half-time and raced away on a Conor Shaughnessy through-ball at stoppage time.
After 56 seconds, since Mansfield extended their edge before a house breakaway saw Maynard set up Dapo Afolayan to roster up home a fifth, a soft cross from Benning somehow eluded keeper and defence and rolled into the internet off Oldham defender David Wheater.
Oldhams misery continued as substitute Dylan Fage was taken away on a stretcher after Hamer had brought down Afolayan using six minutes remaining before substitute Jimmy Knowles ripped his first league goal with a punishment that was trendy.
