Curacao goalkeeper Jarzinho Pieter has died before his group were due to play Haiti body Concacaf has said.
Pieter, 31, died on Monday at the team hotel in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
The players have decided to proceed with all the Concacaf Nations League match”from homage” to Pieter, who’d played 12 times for its Caribbean island.
A moment’s silence would be held before Tuesday’s game (23:00 BST) and until all other games in the contest.
Pieter was the back-up keeper to international team-mate Eloy Room and played for Curacao side Centro Dominguito.
The Curacao squad includes Oldham set Zeus de la Paz and his brother Juninho of Huddersfield, as well as Leandro Bacuna of both Cardiff and Gevaro Nepomuceno.
Leandro Bacuna paid tribute to his friend and team-mate on Instagram describing him as having a”beautiful heart” and”my brother from another mother”.
“The Football Federation of Curacao informed the Confederation that, after consulting the gamers, they chose to play tomorrow’s game against Haiti in homage to their team-mate,” Concacaf said in announcement.
“A minute of silence took place today from the games of the League of Nations Concacaf and will happen ahead of the kick-off tomorrow, as a tribute to the Confederation and in memory of Jarzinho because of his contributions to soccer.”
