World Grand Prix: Michael van Gerwen, Glen Durrant, Dave Chisnall and Chris Dobey chase title

Michael van Gerwen is the red-hot favourite however at a championship thats seen seeds Rod Studd and Wayne Mardle ponder the semi-finals.
The four guys left standing have been responsible, although friday is not one which was predicted.
He has never defended the title although van Gerwen is your four-time winner, he is also the seed remaining after the end of this quarter-finals sprinkled the rest of the worlds leading eight.
The Dutchman requires on surprise semi-finalist Chris Dobey, who is enjoying the best week of his career, while at another semi-final Glen Durrants fairy-tale introduction year around the PDC continues from a resurgent Dave Chisnall, that had been beaten in the final by Phil Taylor six years ago.

May not have everything his own way from Hollywood, whose magnificent ending has been a part of the tournament and he will want the same to trouble Van Gerwen.
Dobey was brilliant in beating Gary Anderson, in beating Ricky Evans, composed, and battled his way past Ian White. The angry beast has awakened in Van Gerwen, although he has shown that he can win in lots of ways this week and his double-to-start has been one of the finest.
Regardless of winning the Premier League, the Masters and the World Championship there are several questions of MvG following a season that was inconsistent.
But this week he has appeared in the mood in surviving a scare against Jamie Hughes and needing to locate his very best from Mervyn King, this will be the time of season that he comes alive and he has a 100 percent record against Dobey in their livelihood head-to-head.
Professionals verdict – that I anticipate Van Gerwen to triumph, as nearly everyone besides Chris Dobey will and Van Gerwen is your favourite. Whatever happens, if Chris can go up and perform it has been a week .
Gary Anderson, the greatest win of his career has been beaten by him, and he has got farther than he has ever obtained in reaching a TV semi-finalhe has had and I expect he pushes on. Rod Studd

In their own words…
Michael van Gerwen – I had to produce something and I had to work quite hard as Mervyn played an outstanding game.
The format is not in his favour and it satisfies me, although I anticipate a good match from Chris. He hasnt come this way because hes a bad dart player, he has a lot of talent, therefore I want to be sure I place him under pressure.
This is the time of year when you can earn a #1m within just a few months so I must make sure I am sharp.
Chris Dobey – I wasnt feeling it in a few legs, thats the reason I switched and I think I did the right thing since I could not keep going on like that.
Double 16 that I took the decision when I took out the 100 finish with 16. It is a competition that was great, Ive played in double in. Because darts were began by me, double out competitions and its a format for me.
Ill never look beyond my next competitor. Michael is unique, the world No 1, however I shall prepare myself as if I am going into some match and hopefully Ill be at my best.
Chizzy was allowed as one to see after some brilliant kind on the floor this year that has comprised three Pro Tour titles and three nine-darters and a reversal of darts.
He has lived up to that billing from the first round where hes accounted for Gerwyn Price and he has not looked back into a tournament in which he has decent pedigree, its the fourth time in the last seven years hes reached the last eight and he appears in the right shape to finally break his main duck.
Duzzas year proceeds to go from strength-to-strength, having won his Tour card in January the three-time BDO world champion won a Pro Tour title in a month and has gone on to reach the World Matchplay semi-final on his own debut and the Grand Prix on his first showing.
The couple have met twice previously, such as a Pro Tour final in February at which Chizzy prevailed, and also the Grand Slam of Darts past where Duzza won it night seems like being just another thriller.
Experts verdict – I think Chizzy wins handsomely and the reason I say that is that he is playing and getting into his rhythm his typical of play is indeed far better in general.
Chisnall has gone 16 games without averaging less than 85 in a double-to-start format, if he does this against Glen as Glen was dodging a few bullets, he wins.
I dont think Chizzy, that has confidence at the moment, will allow off him. I see him then I see him troubling Van Gerwen in the final. Wayne Mardle

Glen Durrant – that I must be elated but I am scratching my head askingam I at the semi-final. However, what Ill say is that if these opportunities present themselves youve got to catch them.
I am towards the end of the career, maybe five or six decades, and it is not about wonderful expertise, I am here in order to win. If I had been 20 or even 30 its a great week, a semi-final but I know what the consequence is and I like putting pressure on myself, if I can win Im also in the Grand Slam.
Chizzy is a champion who is playing while I am pulling and snatching, a PDC participant but I am going a hit in the round and grabbing them!
Dave Chisnall – Its a format that was hard as we have seen with the seeds going out but I try and plod on, eliminate and running , hit dozens and hit doubles.
Playing Gerwyn in the very first round – and it was a good game that went all the way but Ive had three games. Steve [Bunting] was not well and Nathan is a scrappy player.
Its been a fantastic year, I am very happy at home too so Im glad when I go.
Coverage of this semi-finals of this World Grand Prix gets underway on Friday night from 7pm Main Event & Sky Sports Action.
