Michael van Gerwen is your red-hot favorite but at a championship thats seen seeds Rod Studd and Wayne Mardle ponder the semi-finals.
The four men left standing have perhaps been responsible for the darts from the championship, although friday isnt one that was called.
The name has never been defended by him although van Gerwen is the winner, he is also the seed remaining after the rest of the worlds leading eight were scattered by the end of this quarter-finals.
The Dutchman requires on surprise semi-finalist Chris Dobey, who is enjoying the very best week of his career, whilst at another semi-final Glen Durrants fairy-tale introduction year on the PDC proceeds against a resurgent Dave Chisnall, that was defeated in the final by Phil Taylor six decades back.

The world No 1 may not have all his own way against Hollywood, whose spectacular ending was a important portion of the tournament and he will want the same.
Dobey was brilliant at beating Gary Anderson, composed in beating Ricky Evans, then battled his way. The beast has awakened in Van Gerwen, although he has shown he can win in lots of ways this week and his double-to-start was amongst the finest.
Regardless of winning the Premier League, the Masters and the World Championship alongside the Group of Pro Tour and European Tour titles, there are several questions of MvG after a year.
However, this week he has appeared in the mood in surviving a scare against Jamie Hughes and needing to locate his very best against Mervyn King, that is the time of year he comes alive and he has a 100 percent record against Dobey in their career head-to-head.
Experts verdict – Van Gerwen is the favourite as everyone apart from Chris Dobey will and I anticipate Van Gerwen to win. Whatever occurs, if Chris play well it has been a very successful week and will go up.
The best win of his career, Gary Anderson has been beaten by him, and hes got farther than he has ever obtained in attaining a TV semi-final, he has had a great week and I expect he pushes . Rod Studd

Michael van Gerwen – I had to work very hard as Mervyn played an excellent game and I had to create something.
It suits me, however, the format is not in his favour although I expect a good match from Chris. So I need to be sure I put him under 31, because he is a dart player, he hasnt come this far he has a great deal of talent.
That is the time of year when youre able to earn a #1m within just a few months so I have to make sure Im sharp.
Chris Dobey – I was not setting it in a couple and I think I did the right thing since I couldnt continue going on like this.
Double 16 that I took the decision, As soon as I took out the 100 end with treble 16. It is a competition that was wonderful, Ive played dual in in. Because I started darts, Double out contests and its a format for me.
I will never look beyond my opponent. Clearly Michael is outstanding, the world , but I will prepare myself if I am going into some other sport and Ill be at my finest.
Chizzy had been earmarked to see after a reversal of darts and some kind on the ground this year that has three nine-darters and three Pro Tour titles.
Hes lived up to that billing from the very first round where he accounted for Gerwyn Price and he has never looked back into a tournament in which hes decent pedigree, it is the fourth time in the last seven years he has reached the final eight plus he looks in the perfect shape to finally break his key duck.
Duzzas year proceeds to go against strength-to-strength, with won his Tour card in January the three-time BDO world champion won a Pro Tour name within a month, and it has gone on to reach the World Matchplay semi-final on his own debut and now the Grand Prix on his first showing.
The couple have met such as a Pro Tour final in February where Chizzy prevailed, where it was won by Duzza and Darts Grand Slam last 16 two years back night seems like being another thriller.
Experts verdict – that I believe Chizzy wins handsomely and why I say is that he is playing and becoming his rhythm his standard of play is so much better in general.
Chisnall has gone 16 games without averaging less than 85 in a format, when he does that against Glen he still wins as Glen has been dodging a few bullets.
I dont think Chizzy, who has confidence will let off him. I see him winning and then I see him bothering Van Gerwen in the closing. Wayne Mardle

Glen Durrant – I must be elated but Im scratching my head askingam I in the semi-final. But what Ill say is that if these opportunities present themselves you have got to catch them.
I am towards the end of the career, maybe five or six decades, and it isnt about expertise that is amazing, I am here in order to win. Then its a week When I had been 20 or 30 if I can win Im also from the Grand Slam, however I know exactly what the outcome is and that I like putting stress on myself.
Chizzy is a winner who is playing fantastic while Im pulling and pulling, a PDC participant but a punch in the round is swinging and catching them on the brow!
Dave Chisnall – as weve seen with the seeds heading out but I try and plod on, get off and running it is a format hit dozens and hit pops.
Playing with Gerwyn from the very first round – which has been the tie of the round and it was a match that went the way but Ive had three distinct games. Steve [Bunting] was and Nathan is this a player.
It has been a year, Im very happy at home too and that means Im happy when I go.
Coverage of the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix gets underway on Friday night from 7pm Sky Sports Action & Main Event.
