World Grand Prix: Michael van Gerwen, Glen Durrant, Dave Chisnall and Chris Dobey chase title

Michael van Gerwen is your red-hot favorite but in a tournament that has seen seeds Wayne Mardle and Rod Studd ponder the semi-finals.
Fridays semi-final line-up is not however, the four men left standing have been in charge of the best darts in the tournament.
The title has never been defended by him although van Gerwen is the champion, hes also the only real seed remaining after the finish of this quarter-finals sprinkled the rest of the worlds top eight.
The Dutchman requires on surprise semi-finalist Chris Dobey, whos enjoying the best week of his profession, whilst at another semi-final Glen Durrants fairy-tale introduction year around the PDC continues against a resurgent Dave Chisnall, that was defeated in the final by Phil Taylor six years ago.

The world No 1 will not have all his own way from Hollywood, whose magnificent ending has been a part of the championship and hell want the same to trouble Van Gerwen.
Dobey was brilliant in beating Gary Anderson, in beating Ricky Evans, written, and then battled his way. Hes shown his double-to-start has been amongst the best and he can win in several ways this week, but the angry beast has awakened in Van Gerwen.
Regardless of winning the Premier League, the Masters and the World Championship along with the Group of Professional Tour and European Tour titles, there are a few questions of MvG after a season.
But this week he has appeared in the mood in living a scare against Jamie Hughes and needing to find his best from Mervyn King, that is the time of year that he comes alive and hes got a 100 per cent record against Dobey within their livelihood head-to-head.
Experts verdict – Van Gerwen is the favorite for almost every game he plays with as almost everyone apart from Chris Dobey will and I expect Van Gerwen to win. Whatever occurs, if Chris perform it has been a week and will go up.
He has beaten the greatest win of his career, Gary Anderson, and he has got farther than he has got in attaining a major TV semi-finalhe has had and I expect he pushes on. Rod Studd

In their own words…
Michael van Gerwen – that I had to produce something and I had to work hard as Mervyn played a game.
It satisfies me, however, the format is not in his favour although I anticipate a good game from Chris. So I want to be sure I put him because hes a dart player, he has not come this way , he has a lot of talent.
This is the time of year when youre able to earn a #1m within only a few months so I must make sure I am sharp.
Chris Dobey – I wasnt setting it in a couple and I believe I did the right thing as I couldnt keep going on like that.
Double 16 thats why I took the choice to get back to 16s As soon as I took with treble 16. Its a great competition, I have played double in. Since I started darts double out competitions and it is a wonderful format for me.
Ill never look beyond my opponent. Michael is exceptional, the world , however I will prepare myself as if I am going into any other game and hopefully I will be in my best.
Chizzy was allowed as one to observe following a few kind on the ground this year that has three Professional Tour titles and three nine-darters and a reversal of darts.
He has lived up to this billing from the first round where he accounted for Gerwyn Price plus he has not looked back at a tournament in which he has adequate pedigree, its the fourth time in the past seven years he has reached the final eight and he appears in the right shape to finally break his main duck.
Duzzas year proceeds to go from strength-to-strength, having won his Tour card at January the three-time BDO world champion won a Pro Tour name within a month and has gone on to achieve at the World Matchplay semi-final on his own introduction and now the Grand Prix on his first showing.
The couple had met such as a Pro Tour final in February along with the Grand Slam of Darts last where it was won by Duzza Friday night looks like being just another thriller.
Professionals verdict – I think Chizzy wins very handsomely and the reason I say is that hes playing better and getting into his rhythm quicker but also his standard of play is indeed much better in general.
Chisnall has gone 16 games without averaging over 85 in a format, if he does that against Glen he wins as Glen has been dodging a few too many bullets.
I dont think Chizzy, who has so much confidence will allow him off. I see him then I see him bothering Van Gerwen at the closing. Wayne Mardle

Glen Durrant – that I must be elated but Im scratching my head askingam I at the semi-final. But what Ill say is that if these opportunities present themselves you have to catch them.
I am towards the end of my career, possibly five or six decades, and it isnt about encounter, I am here in order to win. Then its a week, a semi-final if I had been 20 or 30 however I understand what the outcome is enjoy putting pressure on myself and that I, if I could win I am also in the Grand Slam.
Chizzy is a champion who is playing fantastic while I am pulling and pulling, a PDC player but I am swinging a punch at the round and catching them!
Dave Chisnall – as we have seen with the seeds going out but I try and plod on, eliminate and running it is a format , hit scores and hit stinks.
Playing with Gerwyn in the very first round – and it was a great game that travelled all the way but I have had three games. Steve [Bunting] was and Nathan is such a player.
It has been a year, I am very happy in your home and that means I am happy when I move out also.
Coverage of this semi-finals of this World Grand Prix gets underway on Friday night from 7pm on Sky Sports Action & Main Event.
