Last year’s Queen Mary winner Signora Cabello was retired after unsatisfactory on Saturday at Ayr.
The Camacho filly was beaten on her debut but won Bath, before shooting a Listed race at York and heading on at Royal Ascot.
She conducted with good charge to be next in the Prix Morny during a wonderful first season, also affirmed that up by winning a Group 2, the Prix Robert Papin.
Her significance to Phoenix Thoroughbreds, who bought in to her on the eve of her Royal Ascot victory, cannot be overstated – according to CEO of her owners, Amer Abdulaziz.
“She had been our very first Royal Ascot winner,” said Abdulaziz.
“It is no exaggeration to state at the time that outcome was more significant than winning any Derby from the world. Everybody watches Royal Ascot, and it put us on the map, especially.
“She’s been an outstanding filly to us, and we thank John and his staff for all of the fantastic work they did together with her. I’m certain she will make a great broodmare, and we look forward to welcoming her very first progeny.”
