Tyson Fury vowed to not violate significant underdog Otto Wallin at a colourful Las Vegas news conference.
31, fury, takes on Wallin on Saturday night, filling the Sin City fight night held annually over Independence Day weekend.
Wallin, 28, has 20 wins from 20 fights but Fury is a 1-25 bookies’ favourite.
“I really don’t underestimate anyone, I’ll respect everybody,” said Fury.
“I will train to get a guy like he’s 20 knockouts in a row. The tall southpaw is constantly a challenge but a challenge I couldn’t defeat and I have not met or even a mountain I couldn’t scale – he will not be any exception.
“Hopefully we proceed for a beer afterwards.”
Fury has attempted to align himself. He has referred to himself as”El Rey Gitano”, so”The Gypsy King”.
At one point in the news conference, a reporter contested Fury to know a question asked in Spanish.
After at first offering a stock response, Fury reasoned:”And yes, I do like cuddly toys and crayons, thank you for asking.”
His answer drew widespread laughter and another reporter poised to ask a question if it had been requested in Spanish, that he could only know was afterward told by Fury.
“I was not supposed to box with this weekend,” Fury additional.
“After we heard Saul’Canelo’ Alvarez would not be fighting in vegas on this weekend I believed what a jolt. This has been a weekend for years. I thought the Mexican men and women won’t have a main event so I introduced my fight date forward four months.”
With Fury’s entourage, including his brother Tommy and Love Island star Molly Mae, enjoying his funny display, his UK promoter Frank Warren hunted to focus minds by stating just how much was at stake against Wallin given a rematch with WBC world heavyweight winner Deontay Wilder is set for early in 2020.
“One punch can change the entire thing,” worried Warren.
Fury included:”Is Wallin knocking me out? Definitely not. I really don’t know a lot and occasionally that’s a good thing.
“Sometimes once you understand a lot about a competition it does not turn me fully, when it is unknown it is much more exciting.
“I feel good, healthy, have trained very difficult, weight is perfect, trauma free, sharp, and rejuvenated. I feel ready for a fight. I’m as strong as I have ever been.”
Fury will arrive face-to-face before a T-Mobile Arena bout, with Wallin in Friday’s weigh-in.
US promoter Bob Arum pointed to the inspiration Wallin could draw from the jolt caused by Swedish heavyweight Ingemar Johansson in arriving to stun the legendary Floyd Paterson.
Wallin replied:”I come from a little area in Sweden and today I’m on the huge stage. I’ve dreamed of this and therefore are prepared to put it all.
“I’m well schooled, I’ve great offence, defence and I believe I have what it takes to cause an upset.”
Saturday’s bout will be aired on BBC Radio 5 Live together with complete live text commentary about the BBC Sport website and is expected to begin at about 05:00 BST in the UK.
