Paul Scholes does not believe Manchester United can compete to your Premier League title in the following two years.
The ex-United and England midfielder believes the negative results this year reveal they stay behind last year’s top four.
United, who brought with Southampton past weekend, have only 1 victory from their four matches, having attracted with sailors after thrashing Chelsea on the opening day and lost at home to Crystal Palace.
Scholes said:”I believe you almost have to write United off to the following two years – this team – till Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has cleared what he needs out; has five or four transfer windows.
“United will be behind Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.
“I think this is United in the minute; you need to be patient with the young players however the knowledgeable players need to step up.
“We’ve noticed over and over again how many mistakes experienced players are creating. It is difficult for young players to develop into a group such as this.”
Scholes also implied that Solskjaer made the decision to withdraw Juan Mata following Jannick Vestergaard cancelled out Dan James’ opener at the 1-1 draw at St Mary’s final weekend.
“I’m disappointed. From once the instant Juan Mata went off it looked like. I was amazed because I thought if anyone will create something it’s Juan Mata,” Scholes said.
“However, it wasn’t the young players that I was frustrated with, it had been the knowledgeable players. Ashley Young gave the ball away, amd I don’t know how many times Paul Pogba missing ownership when Matic came on he gave away the ball.
“These are the people that young gamers are looking around, the cases you’re looking at.”
