Wales are covering rugby balls to prepare for humidity.
The method is one of a number tried for their Pool D tournament opener against Georgia as Wales build-up on Monday.
“We have been utilizing wet chunks and already been using baby oil onto them as well,” said coach Warren Gatland.
“We’ve recorded them up as well, and we’ve already been through that procedure from the [training] camps we had.”
Gatland says preparations in Turkey and Switzerland were meant to help his players cope with the states in Japan.
“We’ve been to two camps in which one was at elevation and it was very sexy in Switzerland, then it was the late 30s at Turkey,” he said.
“We’ve done as much as we possibly can in terms of addressing the heat.
“I think that the humidity is going to be a factor. You can see how warm it is, but with the those temperatures will fall to about 20 levels.
“It is going to be a whole lot cooler, but the battle then will be the humidity and dealing with a slick ball. It’s how we deal with that.
“The players who have been to New Zealand may have undergone that. I come from Hamilton, it’s incredibly humid there.
“We know what it is like and we have players that have undergone a lot of nighttime cyclists, so we feel we have trained well. We’re looking forward to it”
After confronting Georgia, Wales play with Australia, Fiji and Uruguay since they challenge for the quarter-finals in Gatland effort.
