Nate Diaz shocked that the mixed martial arts planet earlier this month when he handed UFC golden boy Conor McGregor his first loss within the Octagon. Diaz had stepped in as an injury replacement for UFC winner Rafael dos Anjos on 11 days’ notice. Prior to the loss, McGregor had taken the UFC by storm, winning his first seven bouts, earning six knockouts in the procedure including a very 13 instant success over then-champion Jose Aldo last December to capture the featherweight belt. Diaz, on the other hand, was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter season five and had experienced an up-and-down UFC career, earning a title shot at 2012, but failing to get to the surface of the promotion. The success over McGregor made him a contender. MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas had this to say about the rematch:
