After the break that is worldwide, domestic top-flight soccer returns to the top leagues of Europe this weekend.
Will Neymar make his first appearance of the year for Paris St-Germain? Is Mauro Icardi unhappy at PSG only days after finishing a loan move from Inter Milan?
And could Lionel Messi really be nearing the end?
BBC Sport takes a look at the week’s big talking points in European football.
Having turned out through the international break to Brazil, Neymar will make his first appearance of the year for Paris St-Germain on Saturday.
The question is: getting pushed to get a move away, what kind of reception would the forwards receive?
Neymar, 27, suffered an injury to his arm on responsibility during the summer and has yet to play this year.
PSG fans displayed a banner which read’Neymar Go Away’ .
“Will he attribute for PSG on Saturday against Strasbourg? The club want him to,” French soccer pro Julien Laurens told Radio 5 Live Football Daily’s European series.
“What kind of reception will he eliminate the lovers?”
Spanish soccer expert Guillem Balague stated he anticipated Barca, who sold Neymar to PSG for a world record fee of 222m euros (#200m) at 2017, to re-sign the participant.
“Maybe not in the winter but they’ll try again ,” he added.
It was likely to be a new start for Icardi if the Argentina striker combined Paris St-Germain to a loan from Inter Milan on 2 September.
However, according to reports, the 26-year-old’s wife and representative, Wanda Nara, has described the move to France as the”worst choice” for her as Icardi has left his family back in Italy.
“It is the worst option because she does tv in Milan and the pair didn’t wish to leave,” said Italian football pro James Horncastle.
“Icardi needed to persuade boss Antonio Conte that he had a long time at Inter but Conte isn’t a man for the turning.
“If you have a take a look in Icardi’s track list, he had been one of the all-time top scorers for Inter, he has been their captain, he has remained together when they haven’t been a group that has been at the Champions League, when they haven’t been a group competing for whatever in Italy.
“He felt that he had been recognition for this but the team were unwilling to forget everything that occurred last year when his wife, who’s also his agent, repeatedly moved on television and criticised team-mates, criticised the training.
“Conte did not want any of that. It isn’t important how good the player is, he did not want him”
Can the days at Barcelona of Messi be numbered?
Having helped the Catalan giants win 10 La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues, the Argentine forward is a part of the furniture in the Nou Camp.
But the 32-year-old has to take a look this year because of a calf injury – which has sparked discussion that Messi might leave Barcelona when his current contract expires in 2021.
“Messi won’t be playing when he’s 40,” explained Balague.
“He’s 32 and also for the first time I have begun hearing stories of people near Messi stating’what if he only has two more years at Barcelona?’ . I went -‘just two years old Messi?’
“In the end of every season he decides whether he is fit or not. He’s got it at the back of his head that he can perhaps play in the next World Cup.
“His contract at Barcelona ends in 2021. The extra year between the conclusion of that contract and also the World Cup… does he perform in the elite endangering his body and his mind?
“Or does he step down and prepare himself for his final World Cup in 2022?”
Juventus have dropped against Parma and Napoli under their belts.
Since leaving Chelsea in June when the winners of Italy face Fiorentina at Florence, the chain-smoking Italian will make his first appearance.
“What’s been very interesting so much, although Sarri hasn’t been at the dugout, is that he’s picked more or less the identical group as the former boss Massimiliano Allegri did,” explained Horncastle.
“Sarri has got old dogs doing new tricks.”
In a scene right out of DIY SOS, a video has been published by Napoli on Twitter using scaffolding in place, pots of paint on the floor, sockets bare and sinks missing, demonstrating their bare dressing rooms.
Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti said he is”amazed” by the country of the dressing rooms after renovation work in Stadio San Paolo.
The Serie A side played their first two games of the year away from home however host Sampdoria on Saturday before holders Liverpool visit from the Champions League on Tuesday.
“It’s a disgrace that a club as large as Napoli, at the Champions League, have what’s basically a stadium that is unfit for goal,” added Horncastle.
“That is a frequent problem in Italy.
“The majority of the stadiums are run from the council and that I believe with Ancelotti moving public on the club’s site with this is very much the team getting a stand against the mayor of the city.”
