Sands Of Mali is being prepared to replicate last year’s victory from the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot second month after being absent because the Royal meeting there.
Trainer Richard Fahey reported the four-year-old to get recovered from the soreness when well beaten in June at the King’s Stand Stakes, he suffered.
The Musley Bank handler is convinced this autumn, his sprinter may put that setback.
“He came from Ascot a bit tender, but he is grand back and now complete in training,” said Fahey.
“The race in Ascot is going to be his target. I’m sure he’ll come back.”
Space Traveller, winner of the Jersey Stakes, is to proceed on Saturday week.
Connections are keen to go for the Group 2 as the race is sponsored by Space Traveller’s owner Steve Parkin under his Clipper Logistics banner.
“We’re happy with him. He’s in the Boomerang and whether the ground is not too soft he go there.
“Steve maintains the race,” said Fahey.
