Other than the stellar performance this year, of Nolan Arenado was a bust to the Colorado Rockies and it’s not getting.
Their way stumbled into franchise history by producing the worst month of some season when they moved 6-19 in July and followed that ignominious stretch when 19 of 28 games fell by tying a franchise record.
Since the Rockies enter this three-game set against the top team in the National Leaguethey will expect that beginner rookie Peter Lambert (2-5, 6.63 ERA, 1.63 WHIP) can right the ship after a stretch that has seen Colorado lose 10 of their final 11 contests.
The 22-year-old rookie has failed to escape the fifth inning in his past two appearances, getting hit for nine runs on 14 hits in declines against the Cardinals and Red Sox. Back in June, Lambert confronted the Dodgers in consecutive starts, surrendering a joint eight runs in nine-plus innings of work, where LA won 5-4 and 12-8.
The Dodgers have hit a few bumps in the street lately but nothing that may remotely derail their odds of winning the division and probably capturing the No. 1 seed from the National League when the playoffs roll around.
Los Angeles has dropped five of their eight and avoided getting swept from the Diamondbacks in the desert when Joc Pederson went yard in the top of the 11th inning to give his team a success on Sunday.
Walker Buehler (11-3, 3.03 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) will choose the bump today for the Dodgers and he’s more than lived up to his paychecks later being chosen 24th overall at the 2015 draft.
In his second season at the level, Buehler threw the complete game of his career back on June 21st from the team he’ll face today and was named an All-Star. In that competition, Buehler permitted two runs and struck out 16 in a 4-2 LA victory.
But under a week after the ‘2″ right-hander had been tagged for seven runs on 13 hits in five-plus innings from precisely exactly the same group he stymied just six days earlier. The Rockies goes on to win this game 12-8 and avenge their loss to the Vanderbilt merchandise.
The MLB odds are restrictive on the Dodgers and we can’t be surprised. Big Blue has a complete stud while the Rockies are urgently expecting a light will turn off and Peter Lambert will pitch his way without damage.
I really don’t see that happening despite LA hiccups but can’t lay north of -300, which is what the ideal online sportsbooks are currently asking on the house favorite that is chalky.
Rather, I will turn knowing LA has won nine of the 10 games against the Rockies by more a couple of runs this year. Let us bet that the Dodgers -1 1/2 runs (-140) within our MLB selections and money that Labor Day ticket!
