Right tackle La’el Collins has agreed to some five-year contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.
According to sources, the deal includes $35m guaranteed, which is the amount from the league for a tackle.
Despite trio Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper looking for paydays of their own – with the holdout of Elliott appearing like it is going to continue in the year – the Cowboys wrapped up another starter by expanding Collins’ bargain and solidifying their offensive line.
Back in August, they handed out a $64m contract into linebacker Jaylon Smith.
Collins, 26, signed as an undrafted free agent out of LSU later NFL teams passed on him at the draft days after he was questioned at a former girlfriend’s murder although not being a defendant.
By the time the investigation showed Collins wasn’t involved, he had been a member of the Cowboys’ roster, registering a three-year, $1.5Zero arrangement.
Owner Jerry Jones promised to redo that first deal, also followed through with a two-year, $15.4m contract at 2017.
Collins began his NFL career in guard but has tipped the perfect side of this line to All-Pro Tyron Smith on the left side for a bookend.
