Jadon Sancho has teamed up with Nike to help establish a new football pitch in south London in the hope of inspiring others.
Sancho, who was born in Camberwell and raised in Kennington, played a part in the initiative to help boost local centers in south east London, with the purpose of giving more kids a opportunity.
Growing up in Kennington has left me the man I am now; I spend a lot to South London for bettering the way I play, Sancho said. I hope the local children feel empowered to tell their stories through soccer and follow my footsteps – this pitch being only the ignition point.
As the home of the Lambeth Tigers, a soccer club for young people aged six to 18the pitch will provide the local footballers of SE11 access to the best facilities possible.
David Marriott and Jamahl Jarrett both climbed up on a nearby estate along with the two coaches helped with the founding of the club and explained the pitch assanctuary for kids.
Theres a real need for safe places for these children to play in, said Jarrett. A pitch similar to this is like a sanctuary for children, encouraging them to enter soccer in a secure atmosphere. The trendy, bright design is also just like a magnet – its a place where people will want to get out and play.
The Tigers will use the pitch all year to help enable soccer programming and supply opportunities to more than 300 young players locally through workshops, coaching and training.
