Included in National Inclusion Week, Sky Sports News followed Jack Holloway-Bartle and Brighton & Hove Albion Lovers George Due to their matchday experience at the Amex in Falmer.
George is a wheelchair user and he and his brother Jack are still autistic.
Seeing Brighton is a massive portion of George’s life and participate in game has helped him. “I have trouble walking round the scene. My wheelchair is indeed useful to me personally and that means a lot. The arena is fantastic and the staff are excellent. Just being at the games assists me, the atmosphere is just brilliant.”
There are corridors and lifts to allow for wheelchair access. Brighton’s official charity held a fundraiser for George back therefore he could find a wheelchair of his own.
George added,”They have done brilliantly, they have done very good. Donating that seat to me was terrific.”
He is taken by george’s father Matthew Bartle and younger brother Jack into the home of Brighton matches.
“I takes quite a bit of time to get the boys ready for a match since they have extra demands. With my Jack, he gets a whole lot of anxiety and requires a calm environment for a period.
“When we get there we’ve got a handicapped parking space inside the floor. There is also a lift to get us up into the place at which Jack and George sitit’s amazing.
“The bar gets the balance right. Between having the right facilities and making people feel included. They’re not assessed and feel a part of the team. For me personally as a parent that’s vital.”
Staff at the stadium are trained to assist fans who don’t have needs that are visual. Millie Crowhurst is Brighton & Hove Albion’s disability liaison officer and would like to make every enthusiast feel included.
“Inside the floor we’ve got a hidden handicap wristband scheme for our fans that need it. They can demonstrate this wristband to any member of steward or safety and they will help.
“All employees receive special training for this. We got an inclusion room. We’re the first from the Premier League to own this. It is for supporters who might struggle to sit in the primary stadium to begin with.”
