British number two Heather Watson attained a WTA semi-final using success over Magda Linette in the Tianjin Open for the first time since January 2018.
Watson, 27, saved four match points to conquer world number 42 Linette 7-5 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) in three hours and 2 minutes.
She reached a WTA semi-final in the Hobart International.
I am so filled with feelings at the moment, Watson explained on courtroom. That game was so up and down from both of us.
Next week victory over eighth seed Linette guarantees Watson will go back to the world top 100.
She will play Russias Veronika Kudermetova or even Ukraines third goddess Dayana Yastremska for a place in the past.
