David Gough felt no pressure while refereeing All-Ireland final

David Gough, who refereed the drawn says he felt no stress when officiating the biggest game of the year.
A lot of the attention from the build-up into the game was on the collection of Meath native Gough, with a few pundits suggesting as he’s situated in Dublin he shouldn’t have been appointed.
When 3:30pm on September 1 came, he felt no stress.
“It is actually another game,” Gough told The Six O’Clock Show.
“I had spent the week beforehand with a sports psychologist who had prepared me for that moment. He made it.
“[The GAA] have contributed referees access to sports pros in the previous number of years. It is huge for us that we’re able to proceed and visualise things in games that will help us prepare for your sport. We do want this, and it’s a fantastic tool.
“I simply couldn’t wait to get onto the pitch and then throw up the ball. Everything else fades to the background then. The noise in the arena, the capacity, you don’t notice anything concerning it. You’ve 70 to 80 minutes of attention. You see colors, numbers, jerseys. You do not even recognise the gamers, so I did not feel any anxiety going whatsoever.”
The common consensus following the game was so that he chose the proper calls for the decisions, but Gough made it clear he does not pay attention to anybody’s opinions.
He explained:”I don’t hear any of the analysis. I really don’t wait back the match with any analysts’ comment. I watch back the match myself, with my microphone played over it that is awarded to us by Croke Park. So I don’t really get caught up in some of the commentary.
“It’s really nice for me to be able to sit down and watch a match and concentrate on everything I did and that which I played, how I spoke to the players and the way they spoke to me.”
The Conor Lane of cork will take charge of the replay on Saturday.
